Hike to Col Croce and Lake Arpy

Morgex

Among the most scenic hikes in the Aosta Valley, the loop trail to Col Croce and Lake Arpy offers spectacular alpine landscapes with forests, mountain pastures and glacial lakes. The route begins at Colle San Carlo, an alpine pass located between Morgex and La Thuile, and crosses natural environments with beautiful views of the Mont Blanc massif.

The first section of the trail leads to the stunning Lake Arpy, one of the most iconic alpine lakes in the region. Surrounded by larch forests, the lake often reflects the peaks of the Mont Blanc massif on its clear waters.

Continuing along the path, hikers climb towards Col Croce (around 2,380 metres above sea level), an ancient mountain pass offering magnificent views over the valleys of La Thuile and Valdigne. Along the way, you can also see the remains of historic military fortifications, evidence of the defensive structures built in this alpine area.

The trail then returns towards Lake Arpy and Colle San Carlo, completing a panoramic loop hike that combines nature, history and breathtaking views of the mountains of the Aosta Valley.
